Silent Concert
Piano keys, copper wire
Pendulum Gallery, Vancouver BC
Repurposed materials and found objects serve as the foundation for much of my work. With Silent Concert, I used a scavenged collection of wooden piano keys removed from an abandoned key bed. Working in three-dimensional construction allows me to explore spatial relationships in a choreographic manner. While each white and black key represents an individual note, collectively the piano is often regarded as an entire orchestra. Reassembled in a new configuration, these keys reveal interconnected mechanisms that form a flexible network. Adjusting one key alters the overall structure, yet the system remains unified..
