Silent Concert
Piano keys, copper wire

Pendulum Gallery, Vancouver BC

Repurposed materials and found objects have formed the basis of much of my work. 3D construction engages me in a choreography that I find freeing. I had a collection of wooden keys that I had removed from an abandoned piano. Each white and black key is an individual note, yet the piano is said to be an entire orchestra. Joined in a new sequence, their previously hidden mechanisms link to create a flexible network. When one key is shifted, the whole form changes yet remains connected.
